Born in New Zealand in 1969, Wade\r\narrived in the former Yugoslavia in April 1992 to try his hand at\r\nphotojournalism, discovering his passion not only with the art but also with\r\nthe region itself. Over the next ten or so years, he covered the events in the\r\nformer Yugoslavia as a freelance photographer for Reuters, New York Times and\r\nNewsweek.<\/p>

Wade explains - Covering the breakup of\r\nthe former Yugoslavia became my life\u2019s pursuit, I had to be there, to see it\r\nfor myself, to feel it, to try and understand it, the brutality, the death, the\r\ndestruction. What leads a people to destroy another and themselves in the\r\nprocess? If we understood the answers to this and the consequences of armed\r\nconflict perhaps we would pressure our political leaders to try a little harder\r\nto avoid war. I guess I am still hoping that images such as these could help\r\nchange the course of human history.<\/p>

In 2003 Wade left the field of news\/conflict\r\nphotojournalism, and in partnership with a friend, set up a museum of war photography\r\nin the old town of Dubrovnik, Croatia.
